THINGS TO DO IN ARCHERS POST

 Archers post is a small town in Samburu county, Samburu east constituency in Waso ward, it is at the border of Isiolo and Samburu counties, It is famous for the big five and Ewaso Nyiro river, the town has many tourist attractions including Samburu National Reserve, Buffalo Springs National Reserve and Shaba national reserve, Kalama conservancy, Westgate conservancy, Sera conservancy, and the famous mt Ololokwe.

1. Visit the famous lions' cave camp

 lions cave camp is located along the Ewaso Nyiro river, they offer food, drinks as well as accommodation, you can book with them via lions cave camp if you will be interested in staying over there.  There is a bonfire and it is located on rocks overlooking the river. you can enjoy your meals and drinks at the river banks and in the caves. check the photos below. you can access it by foot, vehicle or motorbike.

2. Swim at the beautiful Buffalo springs

Buffalo Springs also locally known as Loturkop, is a natural spring with wild animals grazing nearby, it is located in buffalo springs national reserve, when getting here you will have to pay at the Chokaa gate for entry fees into the park, carry your food and drinks but you can also book a meal at Samburu Simba lodge just a few kilometers ahead you can check it out on their website  http://www.simbalodges.com/samburu-simba-lodge

3. Hike Mt. Ololokwe 

Mt ololokwe also known as ldonyo le sabache is along the B2 highway, it is 45 minute's drive from Isiolo and is located in Namunyak conservancy, you can get a guide through the conservancy or find one at Sabache Eco Camp located at the mountain, here you can camp and also enjoy goat roasting at the top of the mountain. 

4. Go for a game drive

Amongst the 3 national reserves surrounding the Centre, you can choose one and explore the variety of wild animals available, you can also choose to explore one at a time, they are Shaba national reserve, Samburu national reserve, and buffalo springs national reserve.

 5. Camp at the tented camps along the river

You can camp at Umoja campsite located 2km from archers post town, lions cave Camp, Nashipae campsite located in lorubae village, or heshima campsite if you don’t want to be far from town or you can go to game trackers camp riverside camp or lions king camp in the heart of Samburu national reserve on a budget, and if you have a higher budget you can spend at Larsen’s wilderness camp, intrepid tented camp, elephant bedroom, AshnilSamburu, Sasaab Luxury tented camp or Saruni luxury camp you can also opt for lodges like  Samburu lodge, Sarova Shaba Lodge, Sopa lodge, or Simba lodge.

6. Dunda or Dance the night out

Manmanet

This town is full of life and you can never go wrong with a night at Manmanet bar and restaurant, they have a large space, you can play the music of your choice if you like, a parking area and a great ambiance.

I would say it’s also another beautiful place to dance and enjoy your drinks, it is along the highway and closer to Manmanet bar and restaurant, for those who love to hop from one club to the other this is a great opportunity

7. Eat out

Camels gate

This is a hotel with an awesome ambiance, wi-fi connection GREAT food, spectacular accommodation, and good customer care, I would talk so much about their food but you should give me the reviews after you try their fried meat or Nyama Choma.

Northern springs restaurant

These guys have scrumptious nyama choma and pilau, their chai for tea lovers is great too.

Lekulas butchery for nyama choma

this is a small butchery in the heart of the center with the best nyama choma and soup. it's been tried and tested by the famous Njugush the comedian and other celebrities, don't fail to try it.
